I'm just curious and taking in your predictions on when the pandemic and accompanying restrictions will finally come to an end
The minimum number you can put there is probably two years from the start of first wave. If we look into the 1918 flu H1N1 virus the second wave is deadlier and more ferocious. And the pattern is eerily similar, more younger people are infected and killed during the second wave. This is clearly seen in India's corona virus numbers. This will still be another wave after the second. There is no magic solution that this will one day disappear. We are lucky vaccines are now developed.

Having my second shot of Sinovac today. Something interesting (or terrible) happened, not to me but another guy that he took the first shot of Sinopharm but went to the wrong place and took the second shot of Sinovac. I know medical workers should have had checked his card but they were careless and allowed the incident to happen. I didn't stay to wait to see how they solved it.

Just curious, mixed vaccines have been talking for sometime but no one has really done it yet. What would be the result?
Experts say mixing vaccines should be fine. And in theory might work better. France and Germany I believe are doing it. Aus considering doing this too. Just that no study has been done yet

As a person with a psychology degree I personally think 21 days is too long. I wouldn't buy the whole just toughen yourself up talk. After a few days of solitary confinement your hippocampus starts to shrink and your amygdala starts to expand. So I'm more of an advocate for 14 days solitary confinement plus extra quarantine at home or with protected nurses checking in on you at a medical facility regularly for the remaining don't-know-how-many days.

It was absolutely tough for Wuhan folks, but at least most had fellow family in their apartments and didn't have to serve a few months of quarantine in a hotel or we would have seen a mental health epidemic in Wuhan. Anyway there was already a mental health epidemic in Wuhan from the extremely long lockdown.

Of course it's better to have mental illness than to be dead from a virus, but hopefully it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive outcomes.

Staying home with no contact with the outside world aside from the internet for 21 days sounds like summer vacation during my university days.

Of course, my parents were also around, but that was really more of a downside.

I keep getting misinterpreted but I'm referring to quarantine in an unfamiliar environment, ie not at one's home, I'm not talking about quarantine in a familiar environment, ie being at home. Not sure what the confusion is about.

All I need to feel at home is a laptop.

After a year of being cooped up in the house with 3 kids and my in-laws, a solitary sojourn in a hotel sounds like a dream vacation!

Millions of shots around the world, there are stories of Moderna and Pfizer mixed up, Pfizer and Astra, etc.
I believe they just do another shot of what it was supposed to be in a couple weeks in most cases.

Anyone under the age of 60 in Germany who received Astrazeneca for the first vaccination, but belongs to the risk group with regard to thrombosis, will receive BionTech for the second vaccination. The problem is or was that mixed vaccination has not yet been sufficiently scientifically investigated. I don't know if there are any investigations going on.

Some say a mixed vaccination would provide better protection.
For the intended mixed shots, I think they have been done risk assessment. They are made in countries that develop vaccines who know their vaccines well. They should be fine but the case I described above was done mistakenly in Cambodia which is a country that receives foreign vaccines. Further, Chinese developers never certify for mixed use of their vaccines though it was mentioned recently by its health officer. Hope he'll be fine!
