I'm happy you Houstonians are unscathed by those tornado's yesterday.

Why tear gas ad pepper spray? It seems to be a peaceful protest...

I don't know. I saw people committing acts of violence against property in the videos.I also saw the police assaulting demonstrators....Did you watch the videos or read the article in the link provided? That may give you some insight.

There have been problems between the Chinese and other immigrants in France. This is ongoing to this moment.

In October 2016 a Chinese immigrant was beaten to death by a group of young Muslim immigrants.

Thanks! I am fine. It looks like Equation is doing well too.

Yesterday morning was horrifying. It was pitch black out there between 10 and 11am, literally looking like midnight. We all knew something bad was about to happen. We had a meeting at 10am. And at about 10:30, all our phones started to beep. It turned out to be our weather alert all coming in at the same time. By the time we were done with the meeting, sun came out and everything went back to normal.

Unfortunately, I didn't watch the video. I based my comment on the photos in your first post. Sorry about that.

Didn't know there was so much tension between Chinese immigrants and other immigrants in France... does anyone know what's going on?

I overheard my relatives talk about this while I was busy so I'm not to sure myself (I have yet to read a formal report about it), hopefully some else where will be more informed than myself. But it seems as though some apartment family called in the police when they saw some Chinese parent holding a pair a scissors next to his two(I think) daughters, but it wasn't cause he was threatening them it was cause he was multi-tasking and when the police came over and he refused to open the door, they broke down the door knocking him over, and since he still had the scissors in his hand they must have thought it was a threat, and they gunned him down.
Yea .. . . I not sure if this is accurate or not, someone is going to have formal check up.

Liu Fu teaches children acrobatics at an art school in Puyang City, Central China’s Henan Province, March 31, 2017. Liu began to run the school after he was released from prison three years ago. In prison, he realized that many youths committed crimes mainly because they are from divorced families and lack education or support. The school now has more than 20 children who are either from poor families or orphans. Liu teaches the students for free. Due to financial difficulties, the school has moved several times and now is based at a rural home inn. Without formal classrooms, students sometimes learn acrobatics in the street. (Photo/CFP)

Protest continue in Paris for the fourth night.

PARIS: More than 200 people in Paris joined a fresh protest on Thursday over the killing by police of a Chinese father of five, an incident that has caused tensions with Beijing.

The protesters, including many from the Chinese immigrant community, gathered at the central Place de la Republique and waved banners bearing slogans such as "colonialist police" and "Wake up French Asians! You are still oppressed in this country".

The incident happened on Sunday night when police shot and killed a 56-year-old Chinese man named as Liu Shaoyo.

Three officers were slightly injured in the incident and one police vehicle was damaged by an incendiary device.

A police source told AFP that officers were called to the Chinese man's house after reports of a domestic dispute.

The source said the man attacked the officer with a knife "as soon as the door opened", injuring him.

A police colleague then opened fire, killing the Chinese man, authorities say.

Lawyer Calvin Job has said the family of the dead man "totally disputes this version of events."

Yehman Chen, 49, attending Thursday's protest said of the police, "my feeling is that they came to his apartment to kill him."

Thursday's protest was the fourth straight night of demonstrations in Paris over the death.

There have been some violent incidents with 45 people, including minors, arrested.

The family of Liu Shaoyo have called for calm.
