Guy's.

Food = Good. I enjoyed it.

CIWS. CIC WNC says that they have taken the measurements etc. Then another source said that Kasthan is old technology and hence not in Vik. CIWS from Israel, Russia etc are being evaluated.

All MiG-29K pilots are sent to US for basic courses. They gat a lot of flying hours including 10 landings on US Carriers.

Lightening pod begins integration. But it depends on Russian Mission Computer.

EW suite is ELTA suppression pod. Then they have Tarang Mk 1b. M2 to be installed after being proved.

Sorties number in war time is same as given. However, they feel that not more than 8 aircraft's will be required to be in air.

Shore Based STOBAR is on with construction. However, the landings with arrester bar is already in operation. NLCA has performed arrester trials with success. NLCA is too pre mature to be talked about.

The quality of the MiC and the economy backing it is more important. Dassault delivers, and the world knows it. Iran does not deliver anything and the world knows nothing about what they do deliver. Incomparable.

Rafale has certain qualities that are more advanced than the F-35, namely the Spectra suite. The F-35 doesn't have an equivalent. As for practically everything else that's present on the F-35, there is an equal system available on the Rafale. Radar, MAWS, LWS, IRST, you name it.

presence of a system with similar functionality does not equate to equal capability. The point is that manufacturers would all make sell their product to be better than it actually is. If they don't do that, then they need to get better sales people. Typhoon made a bunch of claim about how they are better than F-35 and also scored hits against F-22s. It's all part of marketing effort. In the end of the day, all the major air force around the world are picking F-35 for good reason. If Rafale's electronic suite was that great (equivalent to F-35's systems), it would've not lost out to F-15 in Singapore and Korea.

The F-35's radar, IRST and other sensors are superior to the Rafale (for instance, the F-35 has a much larger radar). Not to mention avionics like the F-35 helmet.

As for the SPECTRA, do you honestly think it's more advanced than the Next Generation Jammer or its current equivalents? If so, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you...

In case of massive losses during war, the air fleet can be replenished really quickly. The French have a line for 11 Rafales today with an option to expand up to 30 a year. This is apart from the 20 a year that India plans to churn out. The Russians are already manufacturing 30 Su-30SMs a year, apart from the 15 made in India. That's roughly 100 aircraft a year, the fleet replenished in less than 5 years.

Well, no . In case of massive losses during war , no modern fighter type could be produced rapidly enough to replace losses. For example, projections for NATO vs Warsaw Pact conflict estimated decline of air power for both sides to 50% within weeks .

Of course, chances that India finds itself in such conflict are negligible, but purely theoretically speaking if India loses let's say 30+ Rafales, those loses would be permanent because I doubt IAF would want to continue with same (very expensive) type again .
