Not really news per say. But was rewatching the animatrix second renaissance. Its basically around 20 minutes in total so its not long.
The story is how humans created robots who eventually got tired of being treated like crap, rose up and eventually overthrew humans. Then they created the matrix.
Its actually kinda funny how a lot of this is kinda like the US vs China now and in the future.
The robots decided to found their own city 01 in the middle east. They got really good at manufacturing stuff that soon the whole world of humans were buying their products. In response countries saw companies going bankrupt, their stock market price crash, credit rating slashed and mass unemployment. Because they couldn't compete in this area, they did stuff like embargoes, economic blockades and blocking 01 membership to UN. Eventually it got so bad that the human decided to strike first at 01 by nuking them. However 01 had large underground cities so it eventually recovered. The Human Machine war lasted over 60 years where humans originally had the upper hand but the machines kept finding ways to counter their strategies and eventually humans couldn't keep up. Eventually humans blocked out the sun to deny robots solar power but doing that pretty much screwed over the entire world including themselves. Remember the average human was still buying robot stuff coz it was better and now not only they could no longer do that, they couldnt even grow crops in masses coz no sunlight. Robots adapted by using humans as biofuel. Eventually robots evolved their weak humanoid models into very efficient Lovecraftian beings and eventually crushed all humans.
All China is missing at this point is having a huge robot army with AI that can adapt faster than humans can. But then it will be at the mercy of machines and AI too. That and a lot of plot armour since nukes have emp and radiation which are supposed to fry electronics quite fast.

This is why I've always felt that all of the Americans' blathering about replacing China's critical minerals pay no attention to the magnitude of the problem. All they're doing is throw some money at it and hope that it goes away. All the players involved are just interested in the ROI on any money spent, and nobody wants to do the hard work.

That's why when that OpenAI guy called open source model "full AI communism" I immediately knew he was onto a banger because there's a grain of truth behind it.
I don't think Chatbot llms can be used in any kind of driving/piloting type situation. Too slow.
What will be useful is the self-driving ML models. Driving and fighter jet decision making should be easily transferable model.
Choose GaoKao or LiuXue is a decision made when the kids are in elementary going to junior high school(some as early as when the kids are born), it is not a decision that can not be changed easily midway.
Surely training UADF is a bit like training ADAS for cars. They don't just run a local instance of Kimi V3 onboard or anything, it wouldn't even fit nor is it suitable.
I remember when UADF news first came out people were joking that when the AI pilot does well instead of giving them medals like humans they should be rewarded by slotting in another 4090.
It’s not just because Indias corrupt elites will inevitably steal your capital to give it to adani and the Gandhi and modi clan, it’s because it is a nightmare to work with Indians, such that AI is preferable to Indians, bugs, warts, hallucinations and all.
AI for instance is not going to mooch off work, lie about their resume and abilities, and try to get as many of their co ethnics into the company to the detriment of said company, just look at Cisco, oracle, Microsoft, Boeing etc etc.
The Chinese equivalent is foreign dignitaries kowtowing to the dragon throne or lighting incense and praying to the yellow emperor.

Wait until you realize 01 was a thinly veiled reference to Japan.
The basic idea of Japan to most Americans until the 2000s was the Borg from Star Trek, down to the suppression of individualist thinking, humorless personalities, and a culture of robot-like non-stop production.
It's also worth understanding that this belief was so deeply ingrained into American culture, that positive depictions of Japan by Americans in this era also accepted this at face value with Japanese sympathizers accepting LDP propaganda at face value. Case and point: The Animatrix depicts 01 as a productive, peace loving society that is attacked first and with nukes without provocation... yeah.
The Matrix was also made in the 90s and directed by two Gen X Americans. Both of whom would've remembered the blatant, shameless racism in American media regarding Japanese industry, together with Bill Clinton's brief trade war with Japan over Japanese cars. To be fair to the Wachowski this isn't unique to white Americans either. I'm a Chinese-American (1st gen immigrant) and I consistently see other Chinese-Americans, who are proud of being Chinese, accept blatantly racist tropes at face value. A less harmful one is Chinese love mixing wine and coke because they don't like the taste of red wine. This is specific to Shanghai and is a culture import brought by Spanish expats (look up kalimotxo).
One can certainly draw parallels. But this has more to do with American propaganda being incredibly lazy by recycling old rhetoric. Considering they don't have this depiction of Koreans, Vietnamese, or even Hong Kong and Taiwan.
