Has Iran actually taken responsibility for these attacks?

In the previous battles, they only claimed the attacks on military bases & equipment while locals were claiming the hits on Arab ports & plants are coming from the wrong side (i.e. Israel/US).

Only statement that matters is Iranian denial and as far as I remembered. They haven’t said anything. Back then, they would come out and reject the allegations on every time. The non-statement is fact a statement in itself.

This is getting serious. Whats the alternative for Saudi Arabia? Sending ship through Suez Canal ?
Closing the Bab el Mandab is not that big of a deal. Because, as you said, ships can simply come through the Suez Canal and go back the same way. Hormuz is a real chokepoint cause there is no way out.

Paying slightly more fuel cost for shipping and going a bit more longer distance is a much better deal than not having any ability to go out.

Saudis have been primarily fulfilling demand of asian countries, so their ships would have to go through seuz then all around africa? making the trip waaaay longer.
or if they have any navy its time to use those as escorts now

Meanwhile Saudi twitter is sharing fan-edits thinking they are 'greatest force in the middle east'
I would say they arent even the greatest force in the arabian peninsula but alright...

That assumes the Suez Canal remains a safe alternative. If vessels start taking direct hits while transiting the canal, it wouldn't take many incidents for traffic to be suspended. A single disabled ship can disrupt operations & a couple of successful strikes could effectively shut the route down.

The same applies to the Bab el-Mandeb. If both ends of the Red Sea become contested, the entire corridor is effectively compromised.

On top of that, any damage to the submarine cable infrastructure in the Red Sea would have consequences far beyond shipping, affecting international telecommunications & internet connectivity as well.
