Two P2012 Special Mission Aircraft joins PN aviation ranks...

The P2012s will be another valuable addition to the PN's growing MPA/ISR fleet, complementing the Sea Sultan, Sea Eagle & P-3C Orion. There is already speculation that, if the aircraft perform as expected, the Navy may expand the fleet with additional 4-6 airframes.
With their low operating costs & excellent suitability for maritime surveillance, the P2012s are ideally suited for routine day-to-day patrols along Pakistan's coastline & within its maritime boundaries. By taking on these missions, they would free up the more capable Sea Eagles, P-3C Orions & up-coming Sea Sultans to undertake longer-range MPA/ISR missions & extended patrols farther out at sea.
Although the P2012 is an unarmed platform, this is unlikely to be a significant limitation. Any strike or armed interdiction mission could instead be undertaken by the Akıncı, CH4/5 or the upgraded Shahpar-III, allowing the P2012 to remain focused on its primary MPA/ISR role.
