Engine is not even the issue. multiple options do available. WS-10/WS-15 variant.Do they even have an engine for H-20? If they don't have a good enough engine it won't even be worth it to build the bomber, maybe that's causing delays
They dont have a medium bypass engine of WS-10 or 15, medium bypass is what is typically used for Bombers.Engine is not even the issue. multiple options do available. WS-10/WS-15 variant.
If the engine core is mature developing variants with different bypass ratios is trivial. They dont have a medium bypass engine of WS-10 or 15, medium bypass is what is typically used for Bombers.
Using low bypass fighter jet engine will not be efficient and will mean lower range.
They can use high bypass ws-20 for y-20. But not sure if its too big an engine for a flying wing. It might be worth using it if they design the bomber to be huge, with MTOW in the B-52 range.
They have to rework it a lot to make it quieter and amplify stealth. Just like the classified engine on b-21. It's heavily adapted for low RCS and noiseIf the engine core is mature developing variants with different bypass ratios is trivial.
that specific variant has already successfully developed.. when you have mature core it is easy to develop different variants. They dont have a medium bypass engine of WS-10 or 15, medium bypass is what is typically used for Bombers.

It took 15+ years to develop the WS-20 which used WS-10 as the core. So, probably not so trivial. If the engine core is mature developing variants with different bypass ratios is trivial.
Uhh, no. WS-20 development started sometime in the mid 2010s, so it wasn't 15+ years, and when the WS-20 started development the WS-10 was not a mature engine core. The technological base and available resources for gas turbine development in China was also rather rudimentary when the WS-20 started development. The speed with which China has developed the WS-19 and CJ-1000 is much more indicative of development pace in 2026 than projects that were still being midwifed in 2016.It took 15+ years to develop the WS-20 which used WS-10 as the core. So, probably not so trivial.
Especially modern jet engines are 1 integrated unit with every part designed with specific flow in mind which determines cooling, power and other subsystems.
Just changing the bypass might require huge redesigns of everything.
first of all you really don't know the timeline of Chinese Engines. It took 15+ years to develop the WS-20 which used WS-10 as the core. So, probably not so trivial.
