the best confirmation for Indonesia order IIRC is from Alan Warnes. I don't think there is dispute that they are in discussion, but the status of actual order is unknown. Based on China's history of announcing things, we won't hear anything until delivery happens.

Further to this discussion, it’s worth looking at the broader force-modernization trajectory reportedly being considered by BAF, rather than treating the J-10CE in isolation.

Alongside the reported J-10CE acquisition, Bangladesh had earlier signed an LOI with Leonardo for the Typhoon platform for a potential squadron-strength induction. In parallel, there have also been repeated reports of advanced-stage discussions with Pakistan regarding a possible JF-17 (Blk - III) package, potentially covering up to three squadrons.

In addition to new acquisitions, there were also earlier indications that BAF is evaluating a mid-life upgrade of its MiG-29 fleet toward a more modern standard (often referenced in discussions as an “KUB or UPG-level” enhancement), alongside potential efforts to increase MiG-29 numbers to bring the fleet up to full squadron strength. This would help both standardize capability & improve overall availability rates.

If these parallel tracks materialize, the future force structure could evolve significantly. A notional outlook would look roughly like:

• ~20 J-10CEs
• ~18 Typhoons
• ~60 JF-17 (Blk-IIIs)
• ~18 MiG-29s (KUB/UPG standard, subject to upgrade/expansion ??)
• ~36 J-7BGs (legacy fleet role dependent)

This would shift BAF from its current baseline of roughly 40–45 (8 MIG 29s & 36 J7BGs) frontline combat aircraft to a potential force strength exceeding 150 aircraft across multiple 4.5-generation platforms, representing a substantial increase in both scale & qualitative mix. Such a transition would mark a clear shift toward a more layered & diversified air combat structure, with greater squadron depth & operational flexibility than at present.

From a regional perspective, such a diversified induction path would naturally introduce a more complex air-power equation in South Asia, with implications for force planning, air defense postures & long-term procurement strategies across neighboring air forces. It could also represent an additional challenge for Indians on their western end of borders.

Well, can't confirm with certainty. But, some known to be reliable sources like ex military Del H Khan and Daily Waadaa has reported that Bangladesh might have choosen to procure Chinese J-10CE fighter jet platform in a 2.2 billion dollar deal.

Soon by what standard? The German soon aka within a short time, after a relatively short period, quickly, rapidly or within a few weeks or months ... or per the South/East-Asian (Indian & Pakistani) "soon" aka within the next ten years!?
