Rai-Alexandrivka has fallen to the Russians in the Group South area of responsibility towards Slavyansk-Kramatorsk. This settlement has been hotly contested. Only one other settlement is left between Russian lines and Slavyansk-Kramatorsk, now 10-12km.

The Donbass, both Donetsk and Luhansk, accounts for 70 percent of Ukraine's mineral wealth. As of 2025, over 60 percent are inaccessible and this figure is now well over that. Over 60 percent of Ukraine's coal reserves, and over 52 percent of critical and rare earths and minerals including Lithium. Let's not mention the agriculture alone.

The area the Russians took at the end of 2022 held $12.5 trillion worth of coal and natural gas.

Black Sea and Sea of Azov has over 2 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

Many of these battlegrounds are actually mines and mining towns including a portion of it:

Avdiivka
Ugledar
Bilhorivka
Shevchenko (South Donbass, Lithium mine)
Pokrovsk
Myrnograd
Rodinsky

You can understand why Zelensky wants to keep a hold of it. If they lose this area, the loss is unrecoverable and will forever haunt the future course of Ukraine.
None of that is going to help them right now though, which was the point that Mar ling was making. Moreover, holding Donbass most likely won't help them even after the war - it will take years, if not decades, and huge investments to rebuild the region back to the industrial and mining powerhouse it once was. Donbass has been an active war zone for almost 12 years now - most of the industrial base was destroyed, same for the infrastructure.

Moscow is burning. I am afraid things are getting really bad for Russia.

Be fearful for yourself, not for Russia. I'd trade an oil plant for 2 cities anyday.
Don't worry; Russia can build more on all the extra land they took. And don't be so modest; I think the fall of your country's economy and industry is much more gorgeous to look at as well as the facial expressions of your politicians as they learned that they failed to secure a spot on the UN security council. And unlike this, it'll be around for all to enjoy for the long term.

Here's some eye candy for you from the streets of Kyiv, with love, from Russia.

Curious how you call Russia Mordor but not the genocide masquerading as a nation(Israel) and it's attack dog(United States). If Israel or the US was in Russia's place they would have already gotten rid of entire cities and turned them into Gaza and i bet my life that Europe but specifically the EU would have looked at it and said "Good Riddance" or what Merz has said about Israel and the Palestinian genocide "They're doing civilizations dirty work".
This African Legion is called "Unique Product" that hasnt happened in Africa in past 30 years or ever. I wont go too much into Arabic sources but this Africa Legion or Afrika corps demonstrate the relatability and depth of Russian helicopters/Aircraft/Satellites/Drones. This is much beyond than any one has done on this scale for this long.

Russia will supply 21 Mi-171 to Iran. and starting in one year. There were Mi-28 supplied earlier.

Mind you that Russia supports Iran and would aid China in fighting the US or Japanese. They have aided Mali in fighting off a bunch of Jihadist terrorists trained by Ukraine founded by the west, aided Burkina Faso gain it's independence from the French and are also helping out Niger so they're not the evil you and your country keeps depicting them as.

So take your schadenfreude somewhere else, we don't need people that feel euphoric at the idea of Russians dying in mass.

Interesting, but how its translate to the battlefield? The Ukrainians for a few years have been hitting stuff in Russia including some energy installations but that has not resulted in gains in the Donbass region not a single meter of Ukraine own territory has been regain by Zelensky, he has been losing more and more towns. What this has resulted is in Russia hitting in Ukraine where they suspect the Ukraines are building their weapons. This will likely result in escalatory and bigger missile and drone attacks into Ukraine.

That is one the problem I had with US in Iran. The US was able to hit a lot stuff in Iran. More than the Ukranians could ever hit in Russia but that didn't translate into even tactical victories let alone strategic ones. Russia is many many times bigger than Iran.

Let see what happens.

Its about the hearts and minds. Ukraine is mainly relying on the psychological aspects of the war and focusing in Russian people to give up due to escalating damages, economic hardship and overall sense of hopelessness.

The war will be decided not on who take more land, but who will give up first.

Ukraine likely will not give up due to extreme backing from the west. But Russia does not have unlimited patience, money or willpower due to being the aggressor.

They are at least equal in willpower, if not, it is in Russia's favor. Russia doesn't feel like the aggressor; to Russians, they are defending the Russosphere. There are far more Ukrainians who recognize their Russian roots than the other way around. The West does not have unlimited patient, money or willpower to continue to support Ukraine and China hasn't even started yet. Russia is far far larger in land, resource and population, with equal or greater willpower, feels fully justified in its actions, and unlike Ukraine whose supporters are all exhausted, Russia's main backer hasn't even really entered the ring yet.
