Look inside

Typical, get rid of her department already.
I'm all for Euros getting "tough" on China. People might make fun of Trump starting a fight with everyone, but at least Trump also knows when to TACO. Europe picking a fight with everyone just means they're going to get gang-r*ped, and that's exactly what Europe deserves.

The Rule-Based Disorder is just like rabies — it makes you foaming at the mouth crazy, has no known cure, and forces you to spread it to other victims.

This is like, you know, really bad.

I got an idea, a very standard one.

Stop immigration completely. Let wages rise. Then cut taxes for the workers.

That way people can save into their retirement funds, like the 401K (?) in America.

But no, the ruling class want to import Indians en mass for wage suppression.

Sure, I am a rightist, but fair is fair, you know what I mean. This is a bad situation that will only end badly if nothing changes.

Business sector benefitted from immigration. Cheap labor of Indian students without citizenship rights was very useful for exploitation and overworking. Could not do that with a citizen and maybe not with other ethnic groups.

She(Ivanka Trump) really put her barefoot in her mouth with that one.

Whenever they mention "nature reserve", it is suspect. Reminds me of the Chagos plea at UN to return Diego Garcia, with British intelligence planning to make it into a nature reserve, permanently restricting resettlement of the Chagos.

One of the best cinematic scenes in movie history in my opinion, haha!

One point, that I did not elaborate on, which I should have, was just how different things were back then.

The mayor of Toronto, Olivia Chow, left Hong Kong as a teenager in 1974 if I recall the story correct.

Well, at that time, China was closed off to the world. All the foreigners were kicked out, and the borders were closed. A young Olivia Chow was from Hong Kong, who had a sealed border with China. So I truly doubt she ever set foot in China until much later in life.

My own father, he escaped to Hong Kong in his twenties, and then came to Canada, and then when the border opened up and his friends started to return to visit China, he visit China in his late fifties, that was a span of over 30 years due to a closed border.

When Olivia Chow said she was from Hong Kong, that is the fact, she had no conception of China, but she definitely was Chinese. I am from Hong Kong. It would be inaccurate for me to say I am from China, because I was not born there either, I was born in Hong Kong when it was under foreign rule.

Guess I am trying to say, how real that separation was. Probably still is for some.

That is why I like talking about this stuff. This separation, over the years, has been melting away. And that is a good thing.

Sure, not everyone likes this kind of inclusiveness, but the Hong Kong rioters were crushed. LOL!

:D
I am also from Hong Kong. You should know by now that Westerners cannot differentiate a Tang-ren HK Canto with a Han-ren Mando Mainlander, especially racists in West. To them, you are all Chinese and need to get out of country. So for her to say, technically, I am born in British HK colony (implication that HK is more civilized, richer, proximity to West, there not the same as China), she fall into the trap. The trap is you are not white, doesn't matter if you were from former British colony, they want you gone.

That's fine you can say you are from Hong Kong. For me, the context is "Get out of this country" as if HK is less subhuman, less inferior than mainland, that's why HKer can stay? What's her point by differentiating HK vs China? To show she is more worthy to stay as she is not Chinese mainlander? To racist, they think even Singaporean is CCP agent (Tiktok CEO)...

I appreciate the good points you raised which is valid and coming from the right place, but you didn't touch on the actual crux of the issue and your arguments could be better.

Let me remind some of you people here that the word "COLONY" is called 租界 in the Han language. The word "COLONY" is officially defined as "Native lands under FOREIGN RULE", the "Foreign" here refers to the UK not China, so do not get the facts twisted. In addition, the literal translation of the Han characters 租界 literally means "Rented/ Leased place", which is a very accurate description of what happened. So can any genius here tell me what does the word "RENTED" means???

Regardless if you were born in HK under the rule of British colonial occupation when HK was LEASED to a FOREIGN colonial power after the Opium Wars, or under the RIGHTFUL rule of your own native motherland (regardless which Chinese government was legitimate at that time i.e. Qing or ROC or PRC), you are FACTUALLY a Chinese and from China.

You cannot change this fact.

@horse , and anyone with similar mindset should absolutely be ashamed of themselves for saying such 逆天之詞. And that undoubtedly includes Olivia Chow. There is absolutely no debate here.

P.S. even the most delusional Singaporean who was born during the Singapore colonial era still identified themselves as either Malaysian or Singaporean or even Chinese (due to the stronger ancestral bond among the older generation), but never as a BRITISH/ British entity/ Foreign imperialist entity (btw the Singapore situation is even more complex as Singapore was later kicked out by Malaysia). Please do not disgust me.

And people here thought Europe would bow down to China just cause of economic hardship. Europe is much more anti-China than even US
