I havent yet been able to get my hands on decent imagery of the new boat at Bohai, unlike the one at JN. So I can only go by what (usually very reliable) contacts tell me. Which is that the new boat is similar to the one at JN. Consider it hearsay of course.

I've only had vague feedback on that (also because sometimes I guess I'm not asking the most pertinent questions). There was an unidentified hull in the Bohai dock all through April and into early May. Then around the first of June the new boat shows up. I've also had some suggestion that in between the dock procesed a Type 09IV, but I couldnt substantiate that any further.

Its all pretty thin. The best I can say based on the latest images I've seen is that Bohai almost certainly launched a new boat identical to the one at JN. If we're lucky, some images of the new boat doing surface trials (similar to how we heard about 09IIIB) can corroborate these notions one way or another. Of course the notional Type 09V we saw in February will go through the same process, so I expect things to stay confusing for a while.
