New (not totally) sailless SSN (09X?) thread

we have seen two different 16m beam related tenders. so most likely 096 is going to have the largest beam for any SSBN in modern times.

@mack8
What's 16m beams for? For a large SLBM? Wouldn't an SLBM that large, assuming both width and height are utilized to the fullest, be unnecessarily big? Since the Chinese subs need to target the USA from litoral waters, newer SLBMs will be longer. But I am suspicious of peacekeeper-sized SLBMs.

submarine launch rate of US vs Russia vs China since 2010 tells quite the story.

Just the raw tonnage increase and having 2 shipyards going at it really increases modern SSN numbers by quite a bit.

When did Ayi say: PLA is not in a position to scoff at 885M? Was it comparing it to 093B or the new subs?
Other than this 09x, what are the other 4 SSNs launched this year? Chinese wiki (probably out of date) shows two 093B's and one 095 launched this year

they paused submarine construction for many years while designing 093B.

A lot of new tech incorporated from 093A to 093B.

I'd imagine the difference is even more extraordinary to 095/09X, which I presume are using the same or similar reactor, but it is possible that 09X with the small sail & newly designed hull, may allow for higher more efficient cruising.

Also, I don't think we know for sure that 09V is using nuclear electric, but I would be shocked if 09X isn't.

keep in mind that Chinese SLBMs need to go the longest distance, so....
Ah I see that makes sense, at this point 09IIIB is more of a new class of subs with that much of a production pause. Things are pointing to 09V and 09X using the same propulsion unit, but when looking at the Jiajiang land reactor testing facility it's too late to be utilized in the boats just launched. I wonder if the plan is for 09X to have next gen reactor being tested, introduced into later production batches, OTOH I'm not sure if it's practical for SSN production run, as new reactor typically means a full redesign.

Does that render have a single row of missile tubes? If so, how many VLS cells per tube does the artist propose?
5 tubes with the ability to pack 3 or 4 smaller diameter munitions in each by the looks of it. I think there’s a discussion on this a few pages back that had similar conclusions

this is a good article out of India actually. It showcases a lot of satellite photos of JN shipyard and the new FAH/Final Assembly Hall for submarine construction at JN.

It has two set of tracks in there. and based on the dimension of FAH, I'd think you can build 4 submarines at the same time in there. The number of launches per year would depend on how quickly and how much work need to be done in FAH. At least to start off, I wouldn't expect more than 2 launches per year.

I would ignore the stuff on the bottom, which I think are just wrong assessment.

Sure, the likelihood that it's not at all nuclear doesn't seem great. But it could possibly be an answer to the Type 041, IF indeed that project stalled and has been essentially cancelled. Maybe this sailess sub is another try at a low-power nuclear reactor concept. With a more powerful reactor pack than one that was put in the Type 041, yet one that is still not comparable to proper high speed nuclear attack subs like 093 and 095. Basically, we don't know almost anything, so speculation like this is rampant...
