5000 dollars was a crazy amount of money in China back then…
Yes. Even more so for the man was was merely an average American citizen, not a billionaire or multi millionaire .That’s a lot of money, but then again that probably says a lot about the persons character and mindset. Some people are just generally born nice/kind with good morality . It’s not something you can learn to be. There are many multi millionaires who would never make such an act this man did.

I’m curious, is there a resource that allows you to see live electrical generation statistics broken down by province? I’m curious as to how it differs by province and over time.

China Telecom ventures into photovoltaics! Lead-free perovskite solar cells show significant efficiency improvements.

China Telecom has entered the photovoltaic sector with a new patent for lead-free perovskite solar cells, aiming to balance environmental safety with high performance. The core innovation involves replacing toxic lead with FASnX3 (tin-based) and using acetaldehyde oxime (AO)to inhibit tin oxidation, reduce defects, and promote grain growth. Key outcomes include:

  • Efficiency Boost: Cells with AO achieved 7.65% efficiency, nearly 50% higher than the 5.13% control group, with improved voltage (0.49V) and fill factor (67.41%).
  • Quality & Stability: The modification resulted in smoother films (roughness ≤14.8nm) and larger grains (500–800nm), significantly enhancing stability against degradation.
  • Scalable Process: The manufacturing method uses simple spin-coating and annealing, making it suitable for industrial mass production.
This move helps bridge the gap between laboratory research and commercial application, supporting China’s clean energy goals by offering a safer, high-efficiency alternative to traditional lead-based perovskites.
