I don’t understand what they hope to achieve by sanctioning Mizar. Their bread and butter is not from Western firms anyway and there is no guarantee that Chinese firms will comply with the sanction. Feels like a huge winology move.
Restricting access to markets of the West (US + close vassals). Even if Mizar is not reliant on Western markets, having access to them as a supplier is extra dough. Just as BYD would benefit from access to the US market, even if they don't need it.
