That's how China should be responding to the Alex Karps of the world today whose arrogance goes unchecked. Chinese claim they don't want war but saying nothing doing nothing just lets the enemy think they can do anything they want without hesitation. Let the barbarians get to the gate after they already caused so much damage and only then you'll put up a fight? That doesn't sound like a great strategy for those that supposedly want to think like Sun Tzu.
Have you considered maybe China wants war with the US so she can kick American forces out of Western Pacific?

Japanification is state of mind started earlier not related to property slump
Japan urbanized in 1960s and demographic decline started early 70s. when that asset price bubble burst late 80s. the decline was already 50%. it was declining country kept afloat by Royal Kingdoms and US.
Japan also plays around with TFR but Putin after meeting over two dozen times with Abe has full understanding of Japanification. Putin put Korea TFR 0.7 and Japanese TFR 0.8 and this few months old. if Putin reveal updated intelligence Japan decline is much further.

with India will be signed next week, marking a major milestone in trade relations between the two countries.

Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay confirmed legal verification of the agreement has been completed, with both governments agreeing to formally sign the deal on April 27 in New Delhi.

The agreement, first concluded in December, would give New Zealand exporters access to a market of around 1.4 billion people, in what the Government has called a "once-in-a-generation'' opportunity.

I dunno why Japan is getting hated on so much right now.

I'm hearing about something related to Japan X users being revealed as racist as well as Japan cracking down on piracy.

The thing is these aren't exactly new. If you hate Japan for these, the time is years ago. Not now.

I don't see what the big deal is about Japan exporting weapons. They will just be taking market share which would otherwise likely go to US companies and I can imagine in the medium term the US getting quite annoyed by this.

It is the same show with post USSR Russia. They will salami slice their obligations and promises. Just like NATO eastward expansion with the end goal of seizing control of Russia. Japan will export weapons to Taiwan and at some point in the future will start mass deploying Japanese troops in Taiwan. The US isn’t in a position to export anything and Japan wouldn’t do anything without the green light from Washington.
