Add 2x HC-130s to the splashed list for Iran then?
Ultimately, one can quite easily extrapolate that the reason why CSAR (and indeed, long distance special operations missions) is viable is the part of having "dozens of warplanes" providing localized overwhelming ISR and interdiction of adversary movement and troops, as well as suppressing any remaining local air defenses, to the extent that a temporary bubbles of safety/sanctuary can be created.

It's why this sort of thing generally can't be done against an adversary with a functioning air force and networked IADS -- air control (even if transient) offers localized advantages in ISR, fires, and even logistics.
This happened a few dozen km over the Iraqi border. Even Kuwait based ground fires can cover the distance.

So the US actually lost more aircraft (both destroyed and damaged long-term) to CSAR than the aircraft that were initially lost during its combat operation/mission?

Wow, that's one hell of an exchange rate. Maybe Iran doesn't actually need to down every US warplane that is conducting strikes inside Iranian airspace after all, lol.

looks like you confirmed that it was a dirt strip, not a captured airport.

is it at 1x F-15E, 2x A-10, 2x HC-130, 1x UH-60 (crash landed)?

Another good reason why stealth UCAV like GJ-11 is the future. Multiple helicopters damaged and two transport planes destroyed just to rescue two pilots is a waste of resources

For this sort of mission, you really want prompt, minimal latency fires support, which fixed wing aircraft are the most optimized for.

The close distance is still an advantage of course -- it makes it much easier to impose overwhelming localized air power.
