These targeting choices are for domestic political purposes. They need to show they're achieving something, even if it's just to destroy concrete or eradicate civilians. US MAGA voter base and Zionists are all in support of eradicating civilians. Something to keep in mind for the future. No different than IJA.
Are we back to the McNamara and Westmoreland days of bean counting?
McNamara was the Claude AI equivalent of his era—yet he left a legacy of failure and shame after an illustrious career in the private sector, namely with Ford Motor Company.

Gen. Westmoreland had an illustrious combat record in WWII as an artillery officer, yet his leadership and strategy in Vietnam were seen as utter failures. His fellow officers cast him aside, and when he died, his obituary was relegated to the back pages of newspapers.
People today—these so-called leaders like Pete Hegseth and his dumb-shit acolytes—have this arrogant attitude that the reason their military is no longer "winning" is because it’s become "woke" or soft. In reality, being vulgar to appear tough and manly is no substitute for a clear-headed strategy—which they don’t have and never did.

a jet got downed in Iraq.
US so called air invincibility is eroding fast against Iran. Shows that a determined country can do a lot even without a viable air force if they employ their air defenses smartly.

Also shows why they could not do this to Israel in 12 day war, cause Israel never got near Iran and exclusively used standoff strikes.

I expect we will see a lot more shootdowns as US gets more desperate to end the war by attacking Iran more aggressively.

If I were in a position to have a serious sit down with him, I’d tell him to just bring in Chinese and Russian bases and stop these proxy antics in the region. But it’s far too late for that now.

Iran can’t bring in foreign bases. They outlawed the existences of foreign militaries when Iran was founded in 1979. And the likelihood of that changing is slim to nil.

There have been hints that the Trump admin is using heavy handed methods to pressure Canada, UK, France, and Germany to commit to a ground invasion of Iran so that the US does not have to.
Canadians quit and left the NATO-led operations in Afghanistan—which, mind you, started with far more favorable views and support from Canucks as the good neighbor to the U.S. and all.
Now? When Canada is being threatened with annexation as the next U.S. state, economically hemorrhaged by the Americans under Trump due to insane tariffs, and facing the intention of owning a bridge that Canadians built and paid for connecting Canada to Michigan—the idea that Carney is going nuts for participating in a conflict he himself recently described as against "international law" flies in the face of all rationality when we're talking about sending boots on the ground in Iran!

Even they had Chinese bases, wouldn't change anything, cause China would still stay out of the conflict, so would Russia. They simply lack the desire and the power to fight a war in the middle-east. They would rather abandon those bases than fight a war.

They have different strategic goals and saving Iran from a US led attack is simply not beneficial for them.

What Iran can do is leverage Chinese military technology supremacy and buy advanced weapons. China can even donate those weapons for some kind of deal for oil or whatever.

US and western empire is still too strong when it comes to attacking these small countries across the world. And only thing these countries can do is make themselves strong.
