What is the actual downside to the US just bombing the crap out of Iran and leave it a heap of ruins without a continuation plan? High oil prices are good for the US. Iran won't be able to do much more than what they were already doing, all the proxies in the ME didn't help them before and it won't help them now.

Trump probably has done more damage to US power by pissing off Europe rather than another bombing campaign in ME.

I failed to mention in my previous post, why it was also moronic to assassinate Khameini. By killing him you have also united the people because they now see His death as an Islamic martyrdom. The type of psychology that can turn the purest of soul into John J Rambo. There is another side of War the majority of people are not seeing. Psychological warfare, Iran is making everyone in the Middle East and perhaps the World anxious and unstable(Thanks to Israel and the US). It is now a powder keg ready to explode and blast the whole Middle East region back into the dark ages. Think of the global implication should this scenario played out. It will effect the supply chains, the price of gas, oil and the World's economy. The middle East will revert back to warring factions and tribal warfare just like Afghanistan. 500 years ago all these small Arab Countries never existed but Persia has always been there just like China. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar were all created around about the same time Israel became a Nation. Oil money made them and Iran can take that away.
I would like to think that even the opposition (who aren't full blown traitors) who didn't like him can admit at least he stuck to his guns and died in his own country following the mission. So you can't take that away from him even if you don't like him.

Unfortunately I feel like a lot of people over there are just too far gone in their mindset and really are gonna fall for those western tricks just like the other Middle Eastern states.

1. munitions spend, wear on equipment, risk of loss

2. if they don't do a full on regime change, they will either have to keep bombing Iran indefinitely, tying up assets, or give them a window to rebuild.

Munitions. The US stock pile isn’t made for this kind of fire bombing. They’re using relatively expensive bombs & missiles like Tomahawks that you don’t really want to waste on infrastructure targets that cost a fraction of the bombs required to destroy them.

US munitions production also isn’t high enough to sustain that kind of campaign. They would deplete their stock piles that they need for peer enemies.

The downside is Iran becoming a 10 times bigger houthi with endless missile attacks on US assets, Iran under control of hardliners who start unrestricted warfare including assassination inside US soil or other parts of the world.

Iran can also start dirty bomb attacks on israel. Just cause they cant create nukes, they can still create dirty bombs full of radioactive uranium.

If Iran keeps attacking, US will be forced to start ground invasion or start a embarrassing retreat.

Funny how everyone was like "OMG! China helped with the Iran-Saudi reproachment. Its so successful! Diplomacy is so sexy! They are joining BRICS and opposing the US haha GG!" I'll still blame Iran for being so naive with their nuclear program. Now they are stuck having to keep their friends happy with oil prices and no real way to defend themselves without setting the world economy on fire, and even that might still checkmate them and turn even their partners against them.
Diplomacy is an option most of the time. You just need to be smart about it and when going to the talking table, also upgrade preparations and controls in case the other side acts in bad faith.

I really am not sure why Iran thinks it can only pick one option.

They can try but what bases would they use? Iran would destroy any gulf's country if they tried to help the US

Other news: Dubai hit again

Has there been any official tolls for total casualties Iranian missiles have inflicted to both US bases and Israeli infrastructure?
