If Iran had carried out a preemptive strike, it would have fared a far worse fate than it is currently. The US and Israelis have been restrained in this conflict, despite what you see on social media.
Indeed, if they struck first, they simply wouldn’t have the moral backstop to actually fight back and the USA and Israel would be milking the media for what it’s worth if they did. Now both the USA and Israel are now in hot water and they are now trying to hide away to wait for things to blow over when if Iran started this fight, they could’ve rallied other allies, now Iran has escalation dominance and the USA is quite frankly scared shitless and Israel is resorting to mass media blackouts. Brave people don’t do things like that and both attacking nations are fundamentally cowards

MSM left or right have pretty much lost credibility amongst the younger generation who , as we know, are the future. In trying to secure a better future for Israel I feel that BiBi may have inadvertently accelerated its doom…
Netanyahu is no doubt an evil bastard. As for Israel's future that's much harder to judge. Israel currently has and will continue to enjoy US's full political and military support for obvious strategic reasons (control of oil & petrol dollar). Arabs are not really united against Israel. Many gulf monarchies are content with Israel as long as they get to keep their power and continue to get rich.

I also don't see any large shift of support away from Israel in US domestic politics. On the left, only progressive democrats are openly against Israel but old guards and moderate democrats are not going to let them take control (remember Bernie sanders). On the right, Isolationist MAGAs are not so much as against Israel as they are against costly foreign interventions. In the event of Vance taking over, US would still provide Israel with logistical and intel support giving IAF a decisive advantage.

Israel is also not sitting idle when it comes to countering negative public opinion in US, The forced sale of TikTok shows Israel understands the power of social media and actively wants influence younger generations.

US has 6 carriers and a 150k troops and months of prep before invading a much smaller country Iraq.
They're not in a position to ground invade with 1.5 carriers and token ground forces bases, and not with their regional airbases under threat.
Just like last year they like to jump into the fire and then figure out a way out, they might not be so lucky this time.
The Pentagon is not dumb. I think it's a forgone conclusion that there won't be any American boots of the ground scenario.
I think the strategy is mostly to distract from internal politics and also to remove khomeini to destabilize the country. There is no clear definition of mission goals etc.

Slightly off-topic, but I think this conflict might be used by the chairs of the House and Senate Armed Service Committee's to push for the ~$450 billion DoD budget boost (through reconciliation) that they have been looking for. We know they want to do it through reconciliation (meaning they don't need Democrat support) before the Democrats retake the House (if not the Senate as well). A war (even if short) with Iran seems like the perfect time to argue that a budget of around ~5%+ of GDP is needed again.

How the hell are gas prices holding stable right now? Shouldn't they be skyrocketing? Usually, they fluctuate based on rumors alone. I really don't get it.

This type of narrative doesnt matter anyway because Us officials are already saying that 'We had intelligence iran was about to attack us first so we preemptively attacked them'
US doesnt care about their publics opinion about this,

Israelis+MiC and other interest groups are gonna ensure the only millennials/genz that come to power are their types, or maybe they see as their US cover ending in some time so they are doing whatever they can to rush their objectives right now to take advantage.

The pentagon isnt not making decisions, Trumps team is.
