Offtop: Kaan doesn't appear any lower standard. The question is more along the lines whether Turks can pull it off, and frankly full rebuild they just did is somewhat concerning, but their 5th gen("5.5 gen") capability goal checklist is full.
KF-21 is indeed superbly moderate/mediocre. Which is why it's on the edge of entering service.
Indians, on the other hand ... well, AMCA. No further elaboration necessary.
Why would they consider KAAN at all when it's from a Muslim country, they would never be able to live it down with their pride which matters much more for them than most countries.
KF-21 is more realistic if they don't opt for the SU-57E though the Indonesians might throw a spanner in their procurement and delay the process by protesting with the Koreans.
But then again KF-21 still uses F414 which means Washington D.C might cockblock it again.

Three incidents in three years for a fleet of around 30-40 jets. That's an almost 10% crash rate in three years. But, HAL insists that the Tejas is safe and has a strong safety record.
One suggestion for the Indian Airforce, if the crashed plane's engine is not damaged, just remove it and install it onto a new Tejas plane. Then you will have a new plane flying. The F404 engine is known to have very long life cycle.
India could JV with France to develop the FCAS program if and when Germany pulls out of it. Both France and India have nukes, aircraft carriers, and imperial delusions. The two would fit each other very well.
