TWZ figure is too small, J-36 side weapon bay should be the same length as J-20 main weapon bay.
This should be more accurate:

That's the thing, you shouldn't assume this to be true.

I overlaid and measured the satellite image myself and found the J-36 to be shorter than J-20. It's of course just an estimate due to the quality of the method, but the figures are not that far off.

I think the main bay being able to house PL-17 sized weapon is a safe assumption.

J20 was too boxy initially, but after refinements and camouflage, became a lot more eye candy
