They're acting like they never meddled in China's internal affairs, like 2 months ago they were crying about Jimmy Lai and threatening China and now they're acting like they haven't done any of that, like how sort term of a memory do you expect China to have.
Honestly this is just hedging against the US since they still believe that the US would return to normal after a democrat got elected, at least for those 4 years.
Not necessarily if he/she can be leveraged to push Wumao propaganda abroad but given the current state of Chinese journalism I do see your point.
