at some point – if it has not done so already, according to a survey by a US foreign policy institute.
Releasing the results of a national poll earlier this month, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace said 47 per cent of the 1,500 adults surveyed agreed that China had already surpassed the United States or would do so within the next five years.
A further 27 per cent said the shift would take longer, while only 26 per cent said China would never catch up.
The survey was carried out between November 24 and December 1.
China’s biggest advantage, according to the respondents, was

Asked where China outperformed the US, 63 per cent pointed to technology – a view shared by 74 per cent of Democrats, 62 per cent of independents and 52 per cent of Republicans.

From the article: "Of the 26% who are in the camp that firmly believes that China will never catch up with the U.S. unless China accepts Falun Gong as it's state religion, and it's leader-founder as the unquestioned leader of China. Then and only then, will China finally succeeds on surpassing the U.S."

Recently some chinese channels of ordinary people with very modest incomes have gotten popular.

These people show their daily life and how they live with their modest income. None of them have got a car. An American with similar position would for sure be enjoying a higher standard of living.

I just so so hope after seeing these channel that the labor supression in China can be ended, and wages can be improved.

Stop pretending you care about ordinary Chinese people. Just stick to Falun Gong channels like China Observer.

If you watched Zaza in China's video where he broke down his expenses after earning $1400 in December, you would notice the following:

He sent $400 to his parents
$200(!!!) for rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in Shenzhen
$275 in general living expenses
$575 dollars in savings

He spent 14% of his income on rent, and was able to save over a third of his income. How many people in developed countries are able to save that much and pay that little in terms of their overall income on rent while living in one of their country's most attractive cities? In Canada for comparison, most people spend 35%-50% of their income on housing (rent or mortgage payments) and it's closer to 50% for Vancouver and Toronto.

There are real examples of poverty and ordinary people not being fully compensated for their work in China which the government does need to address but this youtube channel isn't one of them, not even close. If this is what ordinary Chinese living standards are then they are not doing bad at all compared to the rest of the planet.

I think if China fixes its pension system for the coming retirement generation, it might prevent their kids having to send back 25~33% of their money to their parents.

Still i enjoy those Zaza videos feels like a really original concept from a ordinary Chinese person. The Ting one feels weird because I have seen her Philippines travel channel before she did this Live in China one.

Due to the way cities/suburbs are structured in the states you need a car to go to work/shop and basically do anything. Same is not true in most Chinese cities.
