Western media, commentators and twitter have been going ballistic over what would otherwise be a normal effect from a corruption investigation

corruption or not, it would be good to have younger, more aggressive generals for the wars to come.
Why does West love this? It's just so they can say and hope these ousted generals are listening that a coup is imminent.

More desperate distractions from the Epstein files and declining US hegemony around the world.
Yes I'm seeing a lot of people believing that and the West doesn't look at their own logic when they say watch out for China invading neighbors just so they can distract their citizens from how horrible they're actually doing...

Chinese was always a cultural concept, not a racial one.

诸侯用夷礼则夷之,进于中国则中国之。
Eileen Gu is not culturally Chinese though? She doesn’t even come across as a Chinese immigrant, so let’s not dwell too much on her connections or loyalties to China.

She’s basically like if a white expat in China decided he was going to become a wumao.

hang on, doesn’t the U.S. have veto rights over trade deals that Canada makes under the USMCA?

Over free trade agreements. China and Canada didn’t negotiate any free trade deals. They negotiated a tariff reduction. The US has no veto rights over Canada trade negotiations in this case under USMCA.

Article 32.10: Non-Market Country FTA

2. At least 3 months prior to commencing negotiations, a Party shall inform the other Parties of its intention to commence free trade agreement negotiations with a non-market country.

One loophole is negotiating a reciprocal trade tariff deal of 0.0001%. Technically isn’t free trade. Though something like this isn’t going to happen.
