I completely agree that China today is far away from America's power projection capabilities so that remark you were commenting on is very premature, however, there is a mountain of difference between how Chinese and Indians chest-thump. When Chinese people get too far out of hand, the most common mistake is talking faster than China's moving (ie. talking about power projection over the EU when China's military is just able to defeat the US in Asia, close to China). When Indians get out of hand, they get plain facts wrong (ie. We didn't lose any Rafales; you lost 25 JF-17) and imagine a future when India's not even moving in that direction (ie. India 2030 video on Youtube).LOL China should first find some bases to park their aircraft carriers. China doesn‘t have even a fraction of influence the US has to play these games. Is there really difference between China and India when it comes to being delusional? You guys are more alike after all.
Because you keep doing so?India is a 3rd rate power. Why are you comparing China to India?
We are comparing to the US, all the time. China's first step is making itself too tough for the US to fight. That is a success. Trump entered his second term determined to bring China down with trade war 2.0; after the rare earth bloody nose he received in Korea, now, he's attacking everyone except China (and Russia). And to add insult to injury, China just posted the highest trade surplus ever. Chinese technology is overtaking or has overtaken the US in 90% of critical fields; its military parade basically has the US backstepping into its own hemisphere rather than than shitstirring near China. If China intends to challenge the US, it should compare itself to the US. As of now all of your big talk is a pure fantasy. Chinese bases in baltics? Baltics are probably some of the most anti-Chinese EU countries. As of now China has 2 allies - North Korea and Pakistan both of which are poor failed states with nothing in common with China - no shared values, people-to-people interaction etc. Chinese soft power is abysmal. Even the Chinese themselves worship the West and wouldn‘t interact with North Koreans or Pakistanis to save their lives. Hell, my own Chinese roommate back then moved halfway across the state to be with an unemployed socially awkward white guy. Let‘s not kid ourselves, China has a looooooong way to go before pulling a fraction of US adventures in a 3rd world country, let alone in the EU lol.
The PLA has passed simple defense of China and has become the most powerful in Asia. With technological and manufacturing superiority, everything is in place as we witness the construction of a military that can fight the US on even terms in the blue seas, and eventually, in America's hemisphere. If everything is done right and sustainably, power projection comes last in the development phase of a superpower.
So yes, the thought of China being able do to Europe what America does to Afghanistan/Iraq/Venezuela and possibly Denmark/Canada is very premature, but things are moving in that direction about as fast as anyone can hope.
