Recent reports indicate that Varsapura, a new game led by Mihoyo founder Cai Haoyu, is set for release. The title translates to “City of Rain.” Published by Mihoyo's Singapore-based subsidiary Cognosphere Pte., Ltd., the game's core gameplay mechanics and scale remain undisclosed. However, its narrative is likely set in a highly advanced futuristic Singapore. The game's central innovation lies in integrating generative AI into its gameplay, with certain features potentially resembling elements from Cai Haoyu's Anuttacon studio.

It's important to note that this game may target the global market, with its development team based overseas. Operating it within China would require going through the import game approval process. So, for a game where the CEO is a major shareholder of a renowned Chinese game company, and the majority of employees are Chinese, but the development and operational bases are established abroad—does it truly qualify as a Chinese company?

Anime faces doesn't stand up well on high res 3D, makes people look like AI rendered marionettes. At least they should try to attain a Stellar Blade level of facial quality or make every background or environment look back towards a 3D anime level like Ananta. IMO this game looks interesting but you need to work harder now given the disruption and the standards being set by Where Winds Meet.

The preview trailer for Honkai: Star Rail mentioned that the character preview series originally scheduled to launch today will have its release time adjusted. This indirectly confirms rumors of a major overhaul to the theme of the game's upcoming 4.0 update.

We understand that political issues between China and Japan have led Chinese game companies to avoid Japanese elements, but this does not mean most Chinese games need to reduce Japanese elements. It is more likely that Mihoyo, as a leading Chinese game company, is setting an example.

Hoyo is always going to have anime art style in their games. It's in their DNA.

I heard that much of the team behind this game is in Singapore and the US, which would explain why it looks like **** as it's trying to replicate some weird Western 3D anime style.

Other Chinese developers have already figured out how to do "high fidelity 3D anime art" well, it shouldn't be a problem for Mihoyo if they'd just move the art work back to Shanghai:

烽火十四 - A WWII FPS fighting Japanese

With this game, I'm aware of four Chinese WWII games being developed - 烽火十四, 抵抗者, 山河在, 斗虎. The setting has huge potential. There is massive demand but no games have been created yet. Can be the next blockbuster FPS game if done well.

This one 烽火十四 looks the best and highest budget. The studio is very cagey on where it's based and the team. After some digging, it appears Tencent registered the domain "fenghuostudio.cn"

The God Slayer from Pathea Games. Here's a first look at it.

From the interview with the game director, what's currently being shown is only an early access. They plan on releasing it near the end of 2027, wanting to hit that next-gen console as well. They are currently going through mass hiring so basically the same thing Black Myth Wukong did.

One of the two CN games i'm most hyped about with the other being The Blood Message.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's any gameplay in the video, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for it yet.
