Sounds like speculation. When you look at the video you see the engine was working at the moment it suddenly blew up. The time from it blows up to the hit-to-ground is about 6.5 seconds. It looks like a spontaneous explosion for now.

Cope in a wrong way? It has successfully aligned itself over the landing site, it just explode upon ignition.
