Lol, the guy who represents a land-locked state that's the 44th most populated by density is chairing the foreign relations committee? This inbred moron and his inbred constituents have ZERO stake in anything foreign relation related. Not to mention Idaho is the most heavily populated state when it comes to Hate Organizations like the KKK, Aryan Nations, Neo Nazis and dozens if not hundreds of other groups. The US is truly running a clown show.
He will regret not keeping his mouth shut in the medium to long term. He could have simply said "I just hope peace is maintained." Nothing more, nothing less. Now he will draw ire during an emotional time for China. Is it "not composed" for China to be emotional at this time? Yes. Does that matter given the entirety of historical and current day context? Nope.

Man interviewing Japanese civilians on the streets about the recent Sino-Japan tensions.
Unfortunately, only one old man knew the historical context of what caused the tensions. The others were either blissfully unaware, or were openly supportive of it. They expressed shock, and disgust for China's reaction to Sanae Takaichi's statement. Many of them even support Japan's involvement in an Armed Reunification scenario. Takaichi's approval ratings have also gone up because of this.
Many of the interviewees thought that Taiwan is a separate country from China and a friendly one to Japan. One woman said that Taiwan helped Japan during disasters, so they must help it. Didn't mainland China offered to help Japan too during disasters you fool? Another middle aged man says that if China invades Taiwan, they would come for Okinawa too. Okinawa (Ryukyu) doesn't actually belong to Japan after their surrender in WW2. It was supposed to be an independent nation.
When asked about the Chinese travel bans, many are pleased. They believed that Chinese tourists are rude and uncivilized. Well, I'm also happy for you people. Enjoy more Americans and Indian tourists, and less revenue then.
Most Japanese are unfortunately blissfully unaware about their ugly history. Some even openly despise China. They don't know how deep the anger goes in China and the Chinese diaspora. It is complicated to blame the average Japanese civilian as they have been brainwashed by their government. But stupidity like this can lead to war. Japan's aggression and barbarity in the Sino-Japanese Wars had the full support of the civilian population due in no small part to propaganda, brain washing, and religion. This is a major long term problem for Japan.

They have much better strategic patience than any democratic government. However the Japanese also appear to be unaware that this is not the era where China is weak and defenceless. If they would willingly go to war with China over Taiwan, it'll be the last one for the Japan that they know.

They haven't been brainwashed. A great many of them know exactly what they did. They simply hate China and Chinese people because they resent not being able to continue subjugating China and be the top dog in Asia. Simple as that. Just pure resentment and scorn and probably nowadays, jealousy.
The younger ones are the more brainwashed ones. They learn WW2 from their elders and the schools. The middle-aged boomers and Gen X folks who hates China are the ones who really harbour true racist hatred. They resent the fact that China had risen. These people would find all kinds of excuses to hate China. Whether it's communism or a lack of civility. These people are the ones who teach and brainwash the younger generation to hate China.
Well, one of the benefit of going through this event is they will be educated.
Lawrence Wong have clearly forgotten what Japan did to SEA in WW2. His "Minister Mentor", Lee Hsien Loong is definitely somewhere in the background, teaching him these nonsense.
Since Lee Hsien Loong came to power, I have noticed that Singapore had been leaning increasingly towards an anti-China tilt. Singapore have been working hard to try to recruit other nations to balance China. Whether it's the US, Japan, or India. Lee Hsien Loong have been very bullish on Japan and India. When LHL was PM and negotiating with Malaysia on the HSR project, Singapore had insisted to use the Shinkansen instead of the Chinese HSR system. His family has plenty of shares in Temasek. And Temasek had invested big in India. Such as investing in that scam e-bike company, Ola.
I think a day might come where Singapore could face a diplomatic crisis with China. China could then test their true position. I think Singapore might try to stand up to China and show it's true colours, and then absolutely regret it later.
