Type 076 LHD/LHA discussion

Yeah from launch to trials in 11 months is pretty amazing imo, and that for a 60,000 ton ship. Inshallah for such speeds for 003A and 004 as well.

PS: Any signs, rumours, anything about another 076 being built? At this kind of rate they could have 4 in the water by 2030, but they need a steady construction program, the lack of signs of another hull being built being questionable atm.

The Sichuan LHD definitely isn't a 60000-ton ship. That's about as heavy as the STOBAR twins, which is an impossibility given its physical size.

during her launch ceremony last year stated 40000+ tons of full-load displacement (满载排水量4万余吨) , hence 50000-ton of full-load displacement would be the highest she can go.

No.

Not necessarily. Sichuan at the current stage is still very much experimental in nature. This may very well mean that a lot of things will need to be worked out, evaluated and certified first before the PLAN decides whether to commit to such designs for their future LHD/LHAs.

The take-off calibration lines around the catapult are comparable to those found on the Fujian, indicating the existence of potentially three types of UAVs on the 076.

The landing strip is also much narrower than that of the Fujian, once again indicating that this ship is very much an amphibious assault ship that carries UAVs, not a "light carrier" as some were hoping.
