The World Intellectual Property Organization issued its annual report today. Long read, but the short version is that China filed ~1.8 million patent applications (+9.3% YOY) which represent 48% of the global total. US came in second place with ~500,000 (-3.7% YOY) representing 13.5%. Japan came in third place with ~400,000 (+1.1% YOY), representing 11%.
