I doubt China will punish the Dutch that much, all because of ASML. China is still heavily dependent on ASML and imports a lot of Lithography machines from them. If China retaliates too much, they can stop ASML exports completely. I don't think China is still ready for that kind of cut-off yet. Maybe in 3-4 years.

Pure projection. What this says is that the US economy is heading for recession and they are trying to get ahead of it by deflecting and projecting. For a country like the US to resort to such behavior is pathetic.

It's interesting how a significant number of people seem to believe TikTok has been sold, when absolutely nothing has actually changed from 6 month ago other than US acceptance of continued Chinese control of TikTok US in exchange for censorship rights for American users, and even that's still not yet approved by Beijing.
I get the feeling they're going to try the same with RE, fold to Chinese demands and save face domestically by obfuscating what's happening.

Why are these guys' tactics so crude?? Like I get they want to imitate what they think China did. But China get technical and management experience from gentle exposure in joint ventures and licensing agreement - backed up by lure of its huge market of course - not outright forced transfer...... Supply side: Rare earth magnets are used for magnetic wafer stages, the only way to get vacuum compatible precision wafer movement. Screws aren't precise enough and generate particles, air stage isn't vacuum compatible. Laser for plasma excitation uses rare earth.
Demand side, invalidate all ASML patents in China.
DUV can also be crippled by banning neon, the only other major producer is Russia.
