Robotics and humanoid robotics & civilian drones discussion

The most striking thing I'm noticing from these videos is that stunt actors are about to be completely replaced as a profession. It will be much cheaper to put a silicon suit on one of these robots to perform dangerous stunts rather than finding a body double that can perform the stunt.
This only applies to Unitree and other Chinese robots running off RL
Boston Dynamics thought to make some money with stunt acting too, until they remembered how much their Atlas cost and how it can only do stunts within mocap.

The International Federation of Robots released its World Robotics 2025 report. Upwards of 500,000 robots were installed worldwide last year, with China accounting for 54% of the global total. These numbers are specifically regarding industrial robots, not counting humanoids where companies like Unitree or Agibot dominate.

Domestic suplliers seem to be gaining more market shares too.
Notably, for the first time, Chinese manufacturers have sold more than foreign suppliers in their home country. Their domestic market share climbed to 57% last year, up from about 28% over the past decade. China’s operational robot stock exceeded the 2 million mark in 2024, the largest of any country.

Behold the future....well, not quite yet.

That is what I was thinking of. A few month ago, I was wondering how soon can they get this A1 ? forget the model number, when will it be able to shovel the snow?

That would be great! Apparently, there are always a few deaths from shoveling snow, due to heart conditions. So, kind of important.

Well, I do not have a heart condition, at least I do not think so. Still, we can feel it. The air is a little different, because after the storm, the barometric pressure fluctuates, and that can cause heart problems.

So I would like to get the robot to shovel the snow, and scare the neighbours too in the process. The robot is like protection. If it can shovel, then it is strong, and bulletproof, lol.

:D

Xpeng has disclosed a patent for a humanoid robot with a movable robotic arm mounted on a bracket and driven by an internal structure. The setup reportedly improves motion range and balances joint placement, making the arm more flexible and its appearance more coordinated, according to the filing.

Don't know if it was already posted, but apparently Unitree has a serious security flaw that allows the devices to easily be turned into trojan horses and surveillance devices.

This is the case with all wireless connection smart things, from robovacs, smart fridges to even cars. Companies spend so much time installing "smart" features security is often neglected.

Programmers often trade security for ease of development and access. It's a never ending balance.
