Another listener has a different interpretation.

Yankee said "Navy J35 has a more advanced engine", without specifying that it is WS19.
Uh, you're clearly not a native Chinese speaker and used machine translation here. "空军J35比海军在动力上反而要领先一点" actually translates to "The air force variant has a slightly more advanced engine than the navy". Without knowing what else Yankee might have said (since I haven't listened to the podcast episode) yes there is some ambiguity in the specific quoted comments about what engines they're referring to, but you got at least that part of the comment you're quoting wrong.

Chahuahui's paid broadcast claims that the J-35A has begun testing with WS-19 :D
In the future it would be best if you provided the direct word for word comment that is being referenced, so that we can appraise the accuracy of interpretations and inferences. Chinese military fans have had a bad habit of being too jumpy with ambiguously worded comments before and it would be helpful to our efforts to maintain accuracy of information here if claims are quoted directly and literally.

"Air force J35" not "Navy J35 ...", typo

I'm not sure if we are referring to the same program. In yesterday's paid Chahuahui broadcast, at the 14:30 mark, Yangkee clearly stated that the J-35 will not remain limited to the WS-21 engine, and the J-35A displayed in this military parade uses the WS-19 engine.

Once again, it would be very helpful to everyone if you can reference the word for word statement. Direct sourcing is essential if we want to be precise about information trails. Transcripts whenever possible would be the best practice.

Timestamp 14:00 (talking about engines progress)

Yankee: 我们先不说15,35,它的发动机,必然不会停留在21。本次93阅兵,我们展示的空军型J-35A,我们讲J-35A这个低配那个低配,但是发动机是WS-19

Shilao: 哎,你看发动机高配了

Yankee: 那么我们讲,KJ-600 ... 两扇WJ-6 ...
(then goes off into a joke)

---

Yankee: Forget about the 15 for now, the 35, its engine definitely won’t stay at the 21. During this 9/3 parade, the air force variant J-35A we’re showing—people say this or that about the J-35A being “low-end,” but its engine was the WS-19.

Shilao: Ah, see, the engine is high-end.

Yankee: So then, we talk about the KJ-600 … two WJ-6s …
(then goes off into a joke)

Looks like they did explicitly mention WS-19. So there's that - Case closed.

Yankee: 我们先不说15,
DAMN. IT. That's arguably more interesting since we know the 35/A's engines are definitely indigenous and only a matter of time until the WS-19 comes.

Oh well. At least the 19's nozzle does look stunning. I can't wait to see the actual engine... Wonder what the stage configuration is.

Do you mean "only a matter of time until the WS-15 comes"?

Because WS-19 is already on the J-35As at the parade per what they said (and thus naturally assume that J-35As in production are equipped with production WS-19s as well)

(Or did you mean WS-19 on J-35
