How so? WS-19 is smaller and less powerful, and benefits from 2nd mover advantage, i.e. the problems WS-15 encountered in development were already solved and didn't stop WS-19 development. Tech developed for WS-15 could be applied to WS-19.
I thought WS-15 was suffering from supply chain issue, if WS-19 use the same technology than I don't see why it wouldn't have the same issue.
The WS-15 and WS-19 engines are presumably of the same generation. But the WS-15 has been under development for much longer. So I would expect it to finish sooner.
"2nd mover advantage" helps a laggard narrow the gap. It does not propel a laggard ahead of the pack. Generally speaking, you won't finish first if you start late.
It is certainly possible and very typical in history of high performance engine development.
In fact, it's totally possible for engine to be "just wrong" (or "just right") in the first place.
Uncharted area engineering is just like this.
WS-19 and WS-15 are of the same generation.. but don't share the similar supply chain in core components.
WS-15 have northeast flavor include turbine/compressor blades and other components.
WS-19 turbine/compressor blades made by Guiyang based Precision company.
but still its hard to believe, J-35A using WS-19 Engines.. it would be a huge surprise for me if its true.
