The compressed timeline of the J-35, for a PLA watcher, is surreal - from rumours of induction into PLAN service, to sightings of the finished products to official confirmation and now, EMCAT launch.

As a Fujian adjacent compatriot, I couldn't be more happy and proud for my Fujian comrades. What a glorious day.

The funny thing is you'll think so but actually no.

Nitmiz class all use steam catapult. Ford is emcat but can't launch F-35C, only super hornets. Kennedy should be able to but she's still in fitting out 10 years after keel laying.

When the Fujian was laid down, people were speculating how much later it would be commissioned compared to Kennedy. Ford launching F-35Cs seemed like a certainty, and no one had ever questioned it.

Who could have imagined, who could have foreseen, that things would come to this?

This marks a milestone, but the PLA will not stop here. Stay tuned. For example, the GJ-21

which I highly recommend. It's one of THE BEST promotional videos by the PLAN by a long shot.

Anyway the voiceover for this scene was ships sometimes transcend the international date line so a day may be shorter, longer, or they may even go back in time. The context or theme of this video is "there's no far seas as long as we can reach (project our force)", hence the reference to the international date line.
