Seems to be mounted a little too high? To be fair the little vehicle might get hit if the target is closer.

This appears to be training for snipers/marksmen. If someone's shooting skills are so bad that they hit the vehicle, that guy will definitely be relieved of his duty and get his ass kicked by the squad leader, then the squad leader get his own ass kicked by the platoon leader.
