It is not intend to be carried by the truck, which is there only to provide transport for the parade. It is a ship mounted laser and lower end estimate for max power is 300KW.
Why would it be mounted on such a large vehicle if that's the case? The vehicle appears to have vents all over the place, suggesting a fully functional package. My only concern is the mobility of the vehicle navigating hills and windy roads to get to it's intended destination.

I think this is a tradeoff between power and mobility. Obviously it is not designed for frontline deployment like OW-5 series but then again it is much more powerful and have longer range. If the intent is to provide shore based defense of bases and critical infrastructure then mobility may not be too big of an issue.

More high-resolution images of the LY-1 naval laser from the parade.

Can anyone explain what the logic behind the LY acronym is? Find it curious to see the same letters as used by the US for its airborne laser system: YAL-1.

In that case, Y stood for experimental.

It could be one of countless poetic jargons. Won’t know until they disclose during CCTV documentary. But if they want to keep with the Mao theme it could potentially be 燎原。
