I'm really curious what is the response amongst the population in Mexico. Is there seriously no pushback at all? In a country that strongly elected a leftist government?

It's a hugely flawed assumption to think a foreign company would ever be allowed to become profitable in India. The government and courts have proven they will come after you and seize all your profits.

100% accurate. It is delusional to believe that Europe has ever been capable of anything outside of token "rebellion" - equivalent to a child's tantrums when they feel wronged. In the end, they still have to go back to their parents' house, because they are incapable of independence.

How the US achieved this degree of hegemony over Europe, really should be studied. But I have a strong feeling it has to do with control of international media, social media (via Google, Facebook, Reddit, etc.), and the financial markets. All the industries that the US tried to push onto other countries, including China, via the "free market" and "free speech" demands. So far, only a few countries have effectively resisted the demands, and it isn't a surprise that those countries are the ones most capable of resisting the US and which the US labeled the new Axis of Evil.

I suspect the way it worked was that the US managed to trick the rest of the West to fully buy into neoliberal philosophy. And once these countries go all in on that, it's very hard to extract themselves from it. Under neoliberalism, the US is the leader, almost no matter what it does so eventually everyone has to fall back in line.

Congrats to whoever came up with the term "rules-based order". It's possibly the most Orwellian phrase I've ever heard. Think of it this way, the paragon of the this order is the US so this means that the proper way to follow the rules would be to do things like bombing random boats in seas nowhere near your own coasts.
