Don't fool yourself. India is only moving towards China because circumstances forced them to. There is great distrust among Indians, particularly the Hindutva types. Ironically, it's precisely these self-styled nationalists who were the biggest boosters of a US-India partnership. The left-secular Congress had traditionally favoured a more balanced foreign policy, closer to Russia and the global south.

For the Philippines, public sentiment is overwhelmingly anti-China. For Vietnam, it's more complex. The leadership is pretty pro-China but the people beneath the elites are more pro-US. This is weird, given the brutal Vietnam war. China's brief border skirmish was a nothingburder in comparison.

I think the main reason for all of this is the diaspora. Indian, Vietnamese and Filipinos diasporas are all very numerous in the West and this creates a natural cultural link to elites back home. China is a much more closed society, so there hasn't been the opportunity to create foreign diasporas. In addition, China was simply too poor to be attractive for immigrants until recently. For these reasons, people-to-people ties are scarce compared to what the West can offer these countries. China also has its own enclosed cultural space. India consumes lots of Western culture, whereas China largely does not except a few films on the margins.

Making a rational argument on economics is a very Chinese way of thinking, because Chinese people are pragmatic and rational. But people in global south countries often have emotional and social factors swaying their decisions. It's the same reason why elites in countries like Iran or Armenia keep running into the arms of the West even if it doesn't make much sense from a cold geopolitical standpoint. Because it's an emotional decision.

All these countries with irrational anti-China views should be educated accordingly. China is a not a closed society, so there are large foreign diasporas of ethnic Chinese all over the world. There are more ethnic Chinese than Vietnamese and Filipinos in North America.

I think what China is positioning itself to become is what the USA is positioning itself to also become. The USA is the world's leading arms manufacturer exporter by sales. And China is able to export it's soft power by financing and building in other countries.

The USA negotiates leases to build defensive bases in other countries and China builds infrastructure and potential backdoor leases in case the customer defaults on it's loaned payments.

Now we see the US is repositioning itself as a global developer in the same light. USA redevelopment project for Gaza.

I'm kinda amused that the brOSINT hasn't realized that you can't use Google Earth to locate the coordinates of anything in China due to obfuscation and spoofing.

Indians have been colonized outward and inward by West/whites.Chinese wearing modern clothes is simply a sign of modernity not colonization unless one wants it to be.And I for one will not be wearing a Manchu /Qing era braid just because that dynasty lasted 268 years.Hanfu is beautiful but not practical for modern life and ironically some Chinese wearing Hanfu were criticized for wearing a Japanese kimono!!Certainly some aspects of our long,rich culture can be revived/modernized but many should be discarded(foot-binding etc) as we grow more affluent and survival/rice bowl is not so dire-but no decadence.As for women -the qipao/cheongsam with stockings /heels is simply beautiful and sexy.

Oh yes, open genocide is totally possible after WW2. The US did it in the Korean War and the Vietnam War amongst others. 1 million Iraqis killed in the Iraq War. Millions of people killed by their wars, but it was re-categorized by Western historians into other statistics to hide that fact.

We should never blindly trust Western reporting. They are experts at playing the numbers of atrocities. They downplay the numbers on their side and exaggerate the numbers on their adversaries. For example, the scandalous Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation lists Nazi Germany combatants deaths into their statistics.

Yes they could, and they do it without remorse. The "world" in this context is he West and their lackeys in the "Free World". They have starved millions of people to death in nations that they didn't like through trade embargoes and sanctions. Then they blame the famine deaths on their adversaries' governments. They did this to China, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, various African nations, etc.

Israel is starving the Gazans, because they just want them gone. Whether by fleeing or dying. The Western world have gotten their backs, so they don't have any fear about international repercussions. It is as cynical as it looks.

The West just doesn't care about people dying, they only care about the politics. They won't cry for the millions of people killed in the Middle East by their direct or indirect actions. But they would cry everyday for the fake genocide of Muslims in Xinjiang.

The coordinate is at Shenzhen, and I know the guy whose company is right next to it at this location, so I know the place well. This satellite image is from google map, and it is totally mess up. Looks like google map can't do satellite image of China correctly anymore.

The attitude of Western liberal media towards China is even more revolting than Trump’s. In articles and reports, there’s a constant display of irritation over China’s role as a global leader, often justified with “because it’s a dictatorship,” and similar arguments. But China has earned that role on the ground, by building the strongest state in the world and the most balanced economic system, blending cutthroat capitalism with a sense of socialist civic duty.


It has gone through a century of suffering and fifty years of such dizzying change that any Western country would have collapsed under the strain. Yet everything has been carried forward with fundamental pragmatism and an enviable long-term vision. At the same time, China now takes new ideas from the world and makes them its own—while also producing new ones.


China deserves the place it occupies in the world. It’s time to accept that.
