I wonder if it is possible for all the special mission aircraft to have an engine switch to the AEP400 soon, wasn't the PLA already very dissatisfied with the WJ-6C.
I don't think Y-9 is being actively produced at all, it's all special mission aircraft now. Y-30 is a completely different and new design with AEP500 engine. I expect existing Y-9 to be replaced asap by Y-30 due to their unsatisfactory performance but special mission aircraft are expected to still be in service for a good while with nothing to replace them with so IMO it is important to replace the engines. That would be nice, but I don't expect existing WJ-6C be replaced in hurry, likely scenario is new Y-8 and Y-9 may be powered by AEP400 and could be called something different and the rumour is Y-30
KJ-500, 500A, 600 and 700 use Y-9 airframe and still in production activelyI don't think Y-9 is being actively produced at all, it's all special mission aircraft now. Yes, but the actual base Y-9 transport is allegedly already out of production. Also 600 is its own thing, technically based on Y-7KJ-500, 500A, 600 and 700 use Y-9 airframe and still in production actively
How much bigger is Y-30 compared to Y-9?I don't think Y-9 is being actively produced at all, it's all special mission aircraft now. Y-30 is a completely different and new design with AEP500 engine.
