The V22 allows the V280 to be developed because a ton of lessons learned built the infrastructure. V280 is building the MV75.
what this demonstration shows it a vertical take off probably a few flights in as the landing gear is partially retracted. However a take off is not a transition and transition makes and breaks the tiltrotor. Bell and Leonardo spent years working out most of the issue of the transition and power transfer of the V22 and V609. Yet it still has problems from time to time. This is China’s first manned tiltrotor and they are trying to use the V280’s engine transmission system.

How far away are we from electric motors in those wing tips? With electricity producing turbine somewhere in the hull, closer to the center of mass? Right now 1+ mw electric rotors are being matured, so something osprey sized is still some decades away? Unless it gets more distributed, like a quad rotor concept ?

There are people working on hybrid electric engines for civilian transport turboprops. But thus far I heard of nothing for military helicopters. And batteries still don't have enough density for large helicopters I think.
