Lol no, they definitely will not face shortage of labour, especially with how much automatiom is ongoing.

Also, going down to 1 billion really isn't all that bad, especially if it can somewhat sustained.
This is a misconception similar to how people thought computerization will cause shortage of jobs back in the 70s. Automation will not cause shortage of jobs. It might cause shortage of obsolete jobs but new jobs for design, service, management will always pop-up.

No, we really aren't seeing the same amount of jobs spawning in those categories as the amoujt of jobs that are lost

History has proven otherwize many many times. Technology will never lead to shortage of things people can do. They will just make things easier and 1 person can do more than before.

If automations makes life easier, it means people will consume more. Even middle-class will live the life of luxury. But it will not lead to shortage of jobs.

No, it actually hasn't.

It has proved that as automation increases we're seeing more service jobs.

Part of them being those design, programming and whatnot, but also lots of others like say barista etc.

Which is exactly my point. No shortage of jobs. China will eventually have labour shortage due to higher prosperity and higher productivity. So, Again coming back to my original point, I expect China to have immigrants eventually.

China having nearly 4x the US's population is one of its largest advantages over the US, and China is losing this advantage.
