This is a misconception similar to how people thought computerization will cause shortage of jobs back in the 70s. Automation will not cause shortage of jobs. It might cause shortage of obsolete jobs but new jobs for design, service, management will always pop-up.

If automations makes life easier, it means people will consume more. Even middle-class will live the life of luxury. But it will not lead to shortage of jobs.

And India has more than 1.x of China.China having nearly 4x the US's population is one of its largest advantages over the US, and China is losing this advantage.
