Menendez was indeed convicted for that or something along those lines, but on top of that, he was also convicted on over a dozen other counts including bribery, extortion and obstruction of justice in 2024.
The funny thing is that this wasn't even Menendez' first rodeo. The DoJ first indicted then Senator Menendez in the mid 2010s, but dropped the charges in 2018 after a mistrial.
Menendez reportedly had a "dirty reputation" for years — after all, he was a congressman and then senator representing the fictional Tony Soprano's home state — so TBF, kudos to the FBI and DoJ for sorting him out, even if it took a few tries.

In time, these people will see reason, although i don't think it will be in my lifetime.
This comment is special to me because it finally acknowledges that China is in fact innovating. Of course, they're still quite upset about the fact that China stole a march on them and caught up after a century of being stomped on by foreign powers, but this is a good starting point for acceptance.

I think India would be hurt far more by export tariffs on US goods (gift cards) than goods from India.

Here's an update today: AVIC's former chairman, Tan Ruisong, has been prosecuted for "serious corruption, bribery, insider trading, and leaking inside information."
Tan Ruisong, who chaired AVIC from 2018-2023, came under investigation in August '24. Prosecutors allege he "illegally occupied a huge amount of public property and hinted to others to engage in securities-related transactions" during his tenure. He faces multiple charges, including embezzlement, bribery and leaking inside info.
Tan Ruisong was once a top figure in China's military industry.
