I think the strategy is to disgust us with hanjian now because all their Captain American wannabes have failed. See how we perform while trying to suppress throwing up.

You might be giving the US government way too much credit: they are rarely that thoughtful.

For the sake of discussion, let's suppose that is in fact what they're trying to do: why would they want to disgust you, and what would that achieve for the US government?

If we were into games, we could also hire an American who got Elon Musked from seeing China's cities to answer to her and make accusations of America's incredibly numerous human rights violations and create the strangest and most confusing UN debate anyone's ever seen.

That arguably might already be occuring on Xitter, albeit between less official representatives of the two "opposing camps."

tbh I don’t think the majority of people in US government are that naive/innocent. They know they are spitting total bullshit and they just don’t care. The US society simply encourages gaslighting. Confident liars become higher ups and they will just continue to do that in order to compete with each other and everyone else. Producing maddening takes.

Tingting there might have been naive in her 20s or even early 30s, but her service as a FSO assuredly annihilated whatever optimistic assumptions she may have held about the world. Just look at that "

."

She is certainly, in many ways, a product of her environment, but I doubt she has much confidence in her own talents for deception. The best liars are usually able to believe in their own bullshit.

Listen to her speak again, and pay especial attention to the shift in her tone of voice from . . .
Thank you, Mr. Chair.

Today’s meeting is a performative maneuver.

Homegirl there is literally trolling.

Her articulation of "performative" was intended to announce the commencement of her own performance!

What happens when you economic-political environment favors shallow popularity and vibes over actual ability to deliver results.

Are you talking about India or America?

US media hires the person who can say the most outrageous things with a straight face. See "sitting on thrones of Chinese skulls" and Gordon Chang's daily China implosion. Or how Pat Gelsinger's 18A powerpoint slides was taken at face value, even when it's obvious it's bullshit...It's the confident liars that ascend up higher, Trump is chief among them.
You are implying some sort of meritocracy at play which isn't the case. People lying their way up would still be a form of meritocracy because that would have relied on skills. I think you and many others reversed the cause and effect.

Think of blond jokes. The theme is that intelligence doesn't contribute to survival as much as being pretty and blond do, and the result of that is being dumb. The people in the US government driving the policies are essentially the blonds. These people lie not because it is rewarding, but because they belong to a demographic that allows them to lie. For the same reason, they see nothing wrong in lying.

This phenomena isn't limited to US government, but can be found in every segment of American society and the rest of the Western world. In short, the US has a class hierarchy that is based on demography — a caste system.

Someone really wants a Nobel Peace Prize. :D

This is unlikely to occur, but if Donald Trump was strategic, he'd offer to dispatch American peacekeepers to the Thai-Cambodian border.

China obviously won't like that, which will then give him the opportunity to propose a joint Sino-American peacekeeping mission.

It's an improbable scenario, but such a milestone might force the Nobel Committee to give serious consideration to awarding the Nobel Peace Prize jointly to Messrs Trump and Xi.

Trump has already opened his first "Dachau Franchise"-"Alligator Alcatraz and he 's seeing how it goes in acceptance before building more Also saw the post about all white communities -logical move after gated ,excusive communities America might fracture into All white enclaves as big as counties etc-not looking good eco-socially.

Even better if the gated communities are operated under franchises, with each parent franchise offering a unique selling point for their settlements - be it all white community, optional consent, free use drugs or all of the above, like the plot of Snow Crash

川建国同志 notches up another victory for the motherland.

Donald Trump freezes export controls to secure trade deal with China

The commerce department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, which runs export controls, has been told in recent months to avoid tough moves on China, according to eight people, including current and former US officials.

While Trump wants to avoid actions that could hurt efforts to meet Xi, some officials have argued that the US is hamstrung on export controls because of the risk that China retaliates by restricting the export to the US of critical rare earths and magnets, as it did in May for the first time.

“Trump has now effectively frozen US export controls and given away the H20 semiconductor for nothing, undermining one of our most critical national security tools,” said one former official.
