The DPP represents the neurotic self hate of East Asian society. They’re like the ultimate foreign worshippers (whether it’s the West or Japan), with not an ounce of respect for anything but their perceived status in the hierarchy of the imaginary international order they’ve adopted. Their ideal state is to be the top crab in the bucket. Teacher’s pet / master’s favorite. They get off on the status competition much like many upper middle class Asian families, especially Westernized ones; think Alexander Wang or Amy Chua but as a political party.
The problem with the DPP is that like other organizations that have pitched their fate to continued Western hegemony, there is no fall back if that hegemony should collapse. The only recourse they have if the US & Japan both fall, is to do a 180 and become China worshippers over night. But this will place them in a difficult position with the genuine China hating elements within the party & lead to a civil war within the party. The outcome will be ugly and they will not survive the after math even if China doesn’t attack. Most will probably flee to the West / Japan, leaving their brain washed followers to suffer. Such is the destiny of all self haters.
