SpaceX and fanboys will still call this a huge success as usual because "We collected data". But when something happens to a Chinese rocket, western media and public starts acting like it's the end of the world.

Just remember one thing -- the longer it takes before Starship succeeds, the longer it takes for the parasite class to voluntarily exile themselves to Mars.

The Tang, Qing, and the Mongols all managed to get large armies to that region,
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan would need to allow Chinese army safe passage to Iran for this to mimic Tang, Qing, Yuan power projection. You are right , modern China can replicate this route. But you suggested Pakistan land routes to Iran didn't you? Xinjiang to Pakistan route is extremely difficult.

and the US managed to sustain a land army in Afghanistan from half the globe away. If any country can manage the infrastructure and logistics to do so, I'd think China could.

behind Himalayas mountain range, transporting a large army through some the most rugged and desolate terrains on earth is much more difficult than US transporting troops on naval ships to Pakistan. It's logistical orders of magnitude more difficult.

Even if they do, they'll still influence or control things on Earth through proxies or delayed communications. Hence it's still better for SpaceX to circle the drain while Chinese competitors catch up and then take the lead.

You only need to watch the first 43 seconds to see how the US military leadership really views this Iran war. It's really ALL about China. Clip of General Michael Flynn giving his thoughts on Bannon's podcast, being discussed on an anti-imperialist YouTube channel.
Trump's circle is such a gaggle of maniacs that he's somehow the least insane sounding of the bunch.

At some point China would have to come to terms with the fact that the United States is not going through a phase, but terminal mental decline and prepare as such.

The intervening Biden years are the hurrah of that delusion, even the Democrats have to lean into the zeitgeist of the new Cold war. Euros waddling about like NPCs, pretending like nothing has happened, as if this mania isn't here to stay.
