It's pretty mind-blowing to me how Western "soft power" is even a thing. It just goes to show how the West has to make up crap in order to make it a thing where they hold all the power. All the power goes to the West so how does anyone else get power from it? You have to have something to where, and this is key, the West likes and that's somehow power. All it is the West gets to judge you on whether you're worthy to them or not because they want everyone to bend over backward to be like by the West. In other words you have to do what they want in order for them to like you.
I love all the minutia crap of what is soft power that goes on in this. "It's not 'soft power' if it involves gaining or losing something as a result." Like all of the West's soft power isn't always in the end about having their power and money on one's side?
They always point to yoga coming from India as to say India has soft power while China does not. All because Westerners practice and like yoga. What does it give Indians? Does the West go to war and sacrifice their lives for Indians? Nothing of the sort. Maybe Indians get to be first in line for everything before anyone else. If that were the case, Indians wouldn't be crying about how China has all these things that Indians should be having first. All it does is make Indians angry at China and not at the West for giving them the things Indians want over China. The West is the only one that gains anything from it. And it is only the West's opinion that matters when it comes to soft power. Everyone else's opinion doesn't count to them. Just look at the computer gaming world. Chinese gamers can make or break a game's success but it doesn't count on determining what games are considered the best by Western standards.
Look at all the soft power the West thinks they have and yet not enough to make China do what they want and China is their biggest threat to their overall power in the world. And then on top of that, they get angry at China for not falling for their "soft power" scam.
