Even if the WS-15 only does 16 tons, the thrust and weight ratio would not be ideal for a dog fighter, but still very high for any other combat role.

nobody knows the exact specifications of WS-15. its confidential.. all are just estimate and info from different research papers. but WS-15 definitely has more than 16 tons of thrust.
WS-15 is actually a generation ahead in comparison with WS-10, with new design and material and very high thrust to weight ratio. this is actually matter the most.

Maybe it won't go to dog fights. There are no dog fights in the latest 5.7 air battles, and they are all over-visual range attacks? Missiles are more important than engines. On the other hand, new models of aircraft will not be equipped with new models of engines. The reliability of the WS15 is not guaranteed.
Eh, still quite some time before they get into initial production.
So might still start with WS15.
But even if not, it be like J20, where a smaller amount we're not WS10, before it switches over to WS15.
Personally, think it's quote highly likely that it might start production with WS15.
