Did anyone hear about A-100 being canned? There seen to be some rumors on telegram saying that the project is cooked.
Only MiG-31 could provide 120 degree AEW and assured if radar was upgraded to AESA.FighterBomber ? Hard to believe tbh.
His argument is also not convincing by saying fighters can take AEW jobs... There just no comparison between small or 1 meter fighter radar vs AEW radar. It's gonna take Multiple fighters and multiple sorties to get the same endurance and coverage as AEW. Such easily worn down VKS very quickly.
To say nothing on low RCS target detection and early warning.
Canning the A-100 without virtually anything comparable or at least A-50 back in serial is kinda technical suicide tbh as things will back to 0. They'll gonna have to redesign the radars and avionics suite if they intend to say, going to "more produced platform" like Tu-214. That will take years.

nope. Its Su-34M that provide comfort and loitering time for AEW role. not even Israel put top antenna on its newest AEW which is business jet.Only MiG-31 could provide 120 degree AEW and assured if radar was upgraded to AESA.
NAZ reported that the Su-34 received new functions of a reconnaissance aircraft
Ergonomics and autonomy
The Su-34 features excellent aerodynamics, large capacity internal fuel tanks, and highly efficient dual-circuit engines with a digital control system. The aircraft has an in-flight refueling system and can be equipped with additional fuel tanks. This allows it to cover distances "approaching the flight ranges of strategic bombers."
According to the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the Su-34 can fly non-stop for up to ten hours. The crew does not lose its ability to work: the pilots are in a spacious cabin, have the opportunity to sleep and eat.
"Taking into account the specifics of a long flight, the designers were probably able to make the most comfortable cabin for a tactical aircraft. The pilots can practically stand up to their full height, take a nap, and heat up food in the microwave. There is a toilet in the cabin. In other words, everything is done there so that the pilots can recuperate," Major General Vladimir Popov, an honored military pilot of the Russian Federation and a candidate of technical sciences, said in a commentary to RT.
As the pilots themselves say, the aircraft is easy to fly, has good ergonomics, extensive automation at all stages of a combat flight, and is unpretentious in operation.
At present, modernized Su-34s are being delivered to the troops. These aircraft are being equipped with new electronic systems, high-precision weapons, and several suspended containers with reconnaissance equipment

I already posted the link about Su-57M that says AI will take over the entire functioning of pilot. and they are already testing it. Two Pilots in Su-34 are enough to take command of an area and delegate responsibilities to ground or air units. We are entering 6G communication technologies so there is no need to command sitting in the air when everything is real time distributed.Reconnaissance is different role than AEW especially when you put C (Command) on it. You need a dedicated operator for actually contacting and to manage aircraft in your area of operations as well as any other units. You can see Israeli aircraft have multiple operators, and multiple radios (yes for AEW/C role 20 radios is probably a bare minimum) Also multiple sensors you can't just fit into M-400 Reconnaissance pod form.
The radar will arguably taking the largest space inside the pod as unlike ESM, Radars really need the power aperture (yes antenna size + power)
IF Su-34 really put into AEW duty, then it will have to work like Ka-31 where everything its radar sees and controls are downlinked to command. This of course raise question on why not put the radar into UAV instead like Altius ? Freeing the Su-34 to actually doing the strike duty.
