I have to disagree, middle ground does exist, that's why I stress "key interest". It's not worth it to mobilize MSS for some mining rights in some random countries, we can let economics do the talking there; OTOH Pakistan is somewhat important strategic partner of China that is also bordering China where China has non-insignificant influence, if China is to exert influence this is where it should be.
In that case China should just limit herself to her neighbourhood as a her core interests then like I said in another thread. In such a scenario, I think it would be benefitial for China to just try and strike a deal with the US whereby the US agrees to allow China have more say and control over her immediate neighbourhood and sovereignty (Taiwan, SCS) while the US has free reign to remain the single hegemony over the world. I believe Chinese leaders would 100% agree to this deal and they actually want such a deal. However the main issue is that the US doesn't seem to want to leave even this to China, hence the current impasse. I actually think it will be a WIN solution for both powers(US and China) China gets to finally reunite the country and gain her full sovereignty over contested areas while the US gets to maintainnher hold over much of the world.
I still think China's current leaders will limit themselves to only internevtion in protecting their core interests as they have said before which is Taiwan and SCS. They won't involve themselves in any other countries /issues. So this non interventionist policy will carry on for a long time to come. They are not ready to start a new revolutionary change in foreign policy and all the political risks that comes with such a change. So the status quo will carry on despite all the wishes and talks of some members on here.
I still think its a good policy for China, China should focus only on herself.

Core interests is not necessarily confined to geography proximity, but in near term at least I do agree China should not over reach.

If your deal can be made it would be a positive step for both China and US. However I believe US is incapable of making such a deal, American elites are too ideologically attached to American exceptionalism for it to happens. For all of Trump's ridiculous adventures, giving up Taiwan would be the real political suicide.

Therefore your deal is non-starter to begin with. We maybe entering a stage where US will pretty much force China's hand into actively ending US hegemony and it will not be pretty

The only thing Trump knows how to run is his mouth.
Apparently he cannot even run his mouth properly.

No thanks. The world needs to decentralize. The Chinese leadership would be absolutely stupid to agree to this deal so they won't. We're tired of Washington dictating to the world.

Trump 2.0 summed up.

A secretive world of group chat bubbles, where there's no need for billionaires and politicians to attend Bildeberg-like ceremonies in forests at midnight, because they can circle jerk via their phones 24/7 and tell each other that their not psychopathic, and are actually geniuses in EVERY field of human thought.
